CHAMPIONSHIP play-off finalists Sheffield United could be in the market for a new manager with Chris Wilder up for the sack.

Wilder, 57, led the Blades to Wembley with 90 points before a 95th-minute goal consigned them to a 2-1 defeat and another season in the second tier.

Sheffield United's new owners are reportedly set to sack the Englishman, leaving the parachute payment promotion-hopefuls hunting a new boss.

Meanwhile, Ipswich Town manager Kieran McKenna is strongly linked with the soon-to-be vacant Brentford job, to replace outgoing Thomas Frank.

Frank is lined up to take over at Europa League winners Tottenham Hotspur, with McKenna among those interviewed in the aftermath.

McKenna, 39, led the Tractor Boys to back-to-back promotions to the Premier League before suffering relegation alongside Saints last season.

Fellow relegated side Leicester City could also sack Ruud van Nistelrooy, leaving three of the top four Championship favourites manager-less.

Saints, however, have already appointed Will Still as their new boss, with technical director Johannes Spors acting fast to rebuild at St Mary's.

Still has already enjoyed a holiday and taken in international cricket at Utilita Bowl, ahead of returning to Staplewood for pre-season in two weeks.

Spors has known that Saints would be competing in the Championship and would require a new manager since the first weekend of April.

While their nearly record-breaking demotion from the top flight was less than unceremonious, it has given the club ample time to prepare.

The German will be grateful that Saints are not involved in the hunt for a manager, and have a head start on their promotion rivals this summer.

Beaten play-off semi-finalists Coventry City have kept boss Frank Lampard, while Bristol City are set to land Gerhard Struber to replace Liam Manning.

Saints could also face promotion competition from League One's cash-rich first and second-places sides Birmingham City and Wrexham.
