HAMPSHIRE rising sailing star Oscar Mead was just one of the thousands of people soaking up the Cowes Week atmosphere yesterday.
Heads turned as Cowes resident Oscar and his sponsor Will King drove along Cowes Parade in the King of Shaves battlebus.
The pair were there to watch the final day of iShares Cup racing from the parade, which Southampton Solent University student Oscar sailed in on Sunday.
The 19-year-old, who in June became the youngest ever person to complete the OSTAR trans-Atlantic race, said: “It’s been a great Cowes week for me so far.
“I was lucky enough to be given the chance to sail on the Extreme 40s in the iShares Cup and on Wednesday I get to race around the Island with Bryan Adams.
“It is so nice that it’s all on my doorstep.”
