IT’S next stop Leyton Orient for Sholing’s history-making under-18s.
The young Boatmen have reached the second round proper of the FA Youth Cup for the first time ever and will travel to the Os’ Matchroom Stadium on Wednesday, November 22 (7.30pm).
Since beating Wimborne Town 3-1 at home in the first qualifying round, Sholing’s young guns have been involved in some epic encounters.
They won 8-7 on penalties at Team Solent after drawing 2-2 and then survived another nail-biting shootout after a 2-2 draw at Aldershot Town, this time triumphing 4-3.
That earned them a home tie against Clevedon Town, which they won 2-0 after extra time.
At Aldershot the youngsters were cheered on by over 60 travelling supporters who sang their hearts out for two hours in north Hampshire.
They are hoping for even better backing at Orient and will be laying on at least two coaches for the trip to Brisbane Road.
Orient’s under-18s beat Biggleswade Town 5-0 on Wednesday in front of a 237 Matchroom Stadium crowd.
Sholing’s mission is to eclipse that gate and bring back memories of when the club and their fans travelled to Wembley in 2014 and gloriously returned home with the FA Vase.
