WILL Still is confident that new signing Damion Downs will bring a fresh and much-needed dimension to the Saints squad this season.
USA international Downs will join up with the squad during their training camp in Girona this month after formally signing for the club on Wednesday.
The 21 year old has been granted leave after representing his country at the Gold Cup, where Mauricio Pochettino's US side lost the final to Mexico.
Downs travelled to the south coast less than 24 hours after the tournament's conclusion, and joins Saints having won promotion with FC Köln last season.
"He's a very different profile. He's tall, strong and has scored goals at a very good level," Still said of his new striker.

"He offers us something that we have not got yet. He's just come from the US national team and has a few days off.
"He will join us in Spain (Girona training camp) and we will go from there. We always want quality, and we always want good players. It's a positive signing."
Still has explained that Southampton must reduce the size of their current squad before attempting to sign more players.

Saints required an additional bench at the Silverlake Stadium for their friendly against Eastleigh, even with several internationals not available for selection.
The Belgian-born English coach admitted they are waiting for the market to start moving, but is pleased with the progress made by selling Kamaldeen Sulemana and Paul Onuachu.
"It's slow progress because the market as a whole, people are waiting for the bigger things to happen before the smaller things," he added.
"We have done the first chunk of (selling players) in the first 10 days. I'm sure by the time we get to Spain and the start of the competition, we will have a balance in the squad and be ready to push on."
