FORMER Saints boss Ruben Selles is reportedly a candidate to replace Chris Wilder at Sheffield United ahead of the 2025/26 Championship campaign.
Selles, who served as interim Saints boss when they were relegated from the Premier League in 2022/23, could now face his former club in a promotion battle.
The Blades are set to axe Wilder following a late 2-1 defeat to Sunderland in the Championship play-off final last month.

Former Saints youngster Wilder guided Sheffield United to a third-place finish in England's second tier before suffering defeat in the 95th minute at Wembley.
Selles has only just been sacked himself. The Spaniard lost his job at Hull City despite keeping the Tigers up on the final day of the season.
The 42 year old lost just 11 of his 27 Championship games in charge of the Tigers, having joined the relegation-threatened club from Reading midway through the campaign.
Should Selles land the role, he will join Nathan Jones and Danny Rohl on the list of former bosses Saints will face in the Championship next season.
Will Still's Southampton will discover the fixture list for their return to the Championship on Thursday, June 26 at 12:00pm.
