WARWICKSHIRE maintained their impressive run in the T20 Vitality Blast with a 13-run victory over Hampshire at Edgbaston, marking their third win in four games.

Asked to bat first, Warwickshire posted 178, anchored by Meg Austin’s composed T20-best of 51 from 38 balls.

She shared a fluent 70-run stand with Davina Perrin (30 from 22) before the innings took a dramatic turn. With Warwickshire cruising at 112 for one, Daisy Gibb turned the game momentarily, taking three wickets in four balls in the 13th over.

Austin and Laura Harris fell to sharp catches, while Charis Pavely was bowled, as Warwickshire lost four wickets for 20 in 18 balls.

Amid the collapse, Sterre Kalis (35 from 21) held firm briefly before top-edging a sweep.

Warwickshire recovered through wicketkeeper Lizzie Wraith (38 not out from 24) and Issy Wong, who added 42 off 28 balls before both fell in the final over to Freya Davies, who struck twice in two balls.

Hampshire, without key batter Ella McCaughan, struggled in their chase.

Though Charli Knott and Maia Bouchier started briskly, both fell inside the first four overs. Phoebe Graham, on loan from Lancashire, removed Knott, while Bouchier mistimed Georgia Davis to mid-wicket.

Freya Kemp fell cheaply, and with three top batters gone early, Hampshire slipped behind the rate. Captain Georgia Adams (32 from 31) and Rhianna Southby (29 from 21) shared a 46-run stand, but tight spin from Davis and Hannah Baker kept the chase in check.

Southby’s dismissal in the 14th over and a miserly 15th over left Hampshire needing 56 from the final five overs.

Adams and Naomi Dattani were both stumped off Millie Taylor, setting up a rare sibling face-off between Taylor twins, Millie and Mary.

Mary Taylor struck a few stylish blows, but with 26 needed off the final over, Hampshire managed just two singles before Wong closed it out comfortably.

Hampshire's women's side are back in T20 action on Wednesday, June 18, with a double header against Surrey at the Utilita Bowl.

Hampshire Hawks men are currently third in the Blast table with 14 points after five matches.
