Southampton boxer Lewie Edmondson will face the unbeaten Daniel Lapin at Wembley Stadium on Saturday, July 19.

Commonwealth light-heavyweight champion Edmondson will face off against IBF International light heavyweight champion Lapin in the capital.

The bout, which will take place on the undercard of Oleksandr Usyk vs. Daniel Dubois 2, will be for the WBA continental and IBF Intercontinental light-heavyweight titles.

'The Saint' Edmondson holds an undefeated record, winning 13 times, and claimed his title by beating Dan Azeez at the Copper Box in October 2024.

He defended that title against Nigerian Oluwatosin Kejawa in Bournemouth's International Centre on March 1 earlier this year, on the same bill as Southampton's Ryan Garner.

Polish-born Ukrainian Lapin has won 11 bouts, four by way of knockout, and beat Dylan Colin to claim his title in December of last year, out in Saudi Arabia.

“In this boxing game, nothing’s ever given and nothing’s ever promised,” he told Boxing News. “For whatever reason, Ezra Taylor wasn’t ready (for July).

“I don’t know whether he sustained an injury but after the (Jones) fight, I did ask him, ‘Do you have any injuries? Are you ready to go in July?’ He said that he had no injuries.

“He’s not stupid – his team’s not stupid – so maybe they know that they’ve got to go back to the drawing board.

“It was disappointing, as we’d been preparing for him for a good while. But it doesn’t surprise me.

“He had that hard fight with Troy Jones, which I thought was a lot closer (than the scorecards suggested), and I think he’s all bark and no bite.”
