New signing Temi Eweka believes he has a "point to prove" following his return to the National League with Eastleigh.

Eweka has penned a deal with the Spitfires following his departure from Maidstone United, where he impressed playing under former Premier League defender George Elokobi.

The 25 year old previously played in the National League for Maidenhead United, however, he managed just five league appearances across two seasons.

Having secured a move back to England's fifth tier, Eweka said: "I've come back to the National League now with a point to prove.

"I'm older, I'm wiser, I'm more experienced. I'm really excited to get out there and show the fans what I can do. I want to carry on where I left off last season.

"I ended the season really well with Maidstone. Hopefully, I can get into the play-offs with Eastleigh or just win (the league). I'm aiming for the moon."

He added: "Once I knew there was interest, with the other clubs that were interested in me, Eastleigh was the one I wanted to go to.

"After speaking to the gaffer, as a footballer, it's always nice to be wanted, and the interest he showed in me was top.

"And from walking around and meeting everyone, it seems like a top club already, so I'm happy to be here."

Eweka scored five goals from centre-back in England's sixth tier last season as Maidstone missed out on promotion to the National League.

They suffered a 1-0 defeat to Boreham Wood in the play-off final at Wembley, a feeling which Eastleigh boss Kelvin Davis could relate to.

"The first time we spoke, we bonded over my play-off final loss. I was heartbroken, but he told me he had been there before.

"That was a base to start talking, which is not a good base, but I spoke to him two or three times before today."

Eweka is the first arrival at Eastleigh ahead of the 2025/26 season, with a busy summer expected following a number of departures.

He adds depth at centre-back and is already familiar with two players in that position at Eastleigh.

"I've not played with any of the players (here), but I've played against Lloydy (Lloyd Humphries), who was at Weston-super-Mare. Good player.

"I played against Luis Fernandez, who was at Hampton & Richmond. He was marking me from corners, he's a good player as well."
