FORMER Saints boss Nathan Jones has penned a new five-year contract to remain with Championship outfit Charlton Athletic until 2030.
Jones, 52, oversaw the club's promotion from League One to the second tier via a play-off campaign in which they did not concede last month.
The Welshman was sacked at St Mary's after just eight Premier League matches during the 2022/23 season, in which Saints finished bottom.
He was out of work until he took over at the London-based Addicks in 2024, who had been relegation-threatened in League One since 2020.
After signing his deal, Jones said: "I'm very proud and delighted. I still had three years left but for the club to come to me and want to continue that journey meant a lot to me.
"It's a club that I love. We've just taken one big step, but that's only one big step, we still have a long way to go to achieve our goals and I'm glad that I'll continue to work towards that."
Jones will return to St Mary's as boss at Charlton in the Championship this season, with the fixture schedule revealed at midday on Thursday, June 26.
