UTILITA Bowl, the home of Hampshire Cricket, has announced a multi-year partnership with waste and resources company SUEZ recycling and recovery UK.
The three-year partnership forms a significant step forward in Utilita Bowl’s ambitions to become the world’s greenest cricket ground.
The partnership will see a new waste and recycling system integrated across the Utilita Bowl site, and SUEZ will send representatives to the England vs West Indies IT20 to provide educational tips, and advice regarding how to use the new system.
SUEZ pioneers sustainable solutions and innovative technologies for the UK’s circular economy, encouraging their customers to recognise the value in materials they throw away and to recycle as much as possible, while helping organisations reduce their environmental impact and the cost of disposing of their waste.
James Cole, operations director at Utilita Bowl, said: “At Utilita Bowl, we have an ambitious strategy to become a truly sustainable sports stadium, and we’re excited to be taking the next step on our journey with SUEZ.
“Our partnership will transform the way we manage waste, delivering a zero-waste-to-landfill solution and significantly reducing the environmental impact of our major events.
“This is an exciting partnership, which will make a real and immediate impact and underpin our strategic vision to create a sustainable future for our industry.
George Pearce, head of sales for the South East at SUEZ recycling and recovery UK, said: “We are proud to partner with Utilita Bowl on their sustainability journey, providing innovative recycling and waste management solutions that drive environmental responsibility across the stadium.
“As part of our partnership, we aim to improve environmental performance by reducing waste and increasing recycling rates throughout major events.”
