NEW signing Joshua Quarshie revealed he looks up to former Saints defender Virgil van Dijk, and insisted: "He's got everything".
Quarshie, who has joined the club from TSG Hoffenheim on a four-year deal, views himself as a composed defender and named van Dijk as his inspiration.
Dutch international van Dijk made 80 appearances for Saints between 2015 and 2018 before joining Liverpool.
The 33 year old has since claimed the Premier League and the Champions League titles since leaving, while also winning the admiration of Southampton's new defender.
Asked if he is inspired by any defenders, 20 year old Quarshie revealed: "Yeah, one is in the Premier League, Virgil van Dijk.

"I think everybody knows his name. He's a very good player, very composed. He's got everything.
"I try to look up to Virgil van Dijk or (Ibrahima) Konaté because he's (Konaté) got the same build as me. I also like his playstyle."
He added: "I think I'm a very composed player. I don't do big things on the ball, but I'm very good on the ball, keeping everything simple.
"I think the main point is my body, my pace. That's how I want to play, or that's my playstyle. That's how I help the team or try to help the team."
