SAINTS midfielder Shea Charles is reportedly on the radar of Premier League club West Ham, following an impressive loan spell in the Championship.

Charles, 21, caught the eye while playing on loan for Sheffield Wednesday, winning their Player of the Year award after a breakout campaign.

He played all 43 games after joining the club in August, scoring once and providing five assists as Danny Rohl's side finished 12th in the Championship.

The versatile youngster was briefly recalled by Saints during the winter window before rejoining the Owls on improved terms.

Mail Sport reports that the Northern Ireland international is one of many players on West Ham's radar as they prepare for the summer transfer window, which opens on Sunday.

Hammers boss Graham Potter will want to stamp his authority on the team with signings this summer following a disappointing start to his tenure.

Charles is expected to be a key player for Southampton in the Championship. However, like with all players, their resolve could be tested in the transfer market.

The Manchester-born midfielder arrived at the club in 2023, joining from Manchester City in a deal potentially rising to £15million.

The youngster played a reduced role in their promotion to the Premier League via the play-offs, and returned to the second-tier for the 2024/25 campaign to gain regular minutes.

Saints are due to lose Lesley Ugochukwu at the end of his loan deal from Chelsea, while Adam Lallana's contract is set to expire, and Joe Aribo will enter the final year of his deal.

Southampton have already agreed a deal for their first signing of the transfer window, with centre-back Joshua Quarshie set to join from Hoffenheim.
