It is widely rumoured that a well-known Saudi billionaire has his eyes set on the Saints - but who is the man behind the sunglasses and keffiyeh?

With his exact net worth shrouded in mystery, Turki Alalshikh, is said to be a billionaire due to his positions within the Saudi Arabian government and an advisor to the Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

Alalshikh is chairman of the Saudi Government’s General Entertainment Authority and as prior owner of clubs such as Egypt’s Pyramids FC from 2018 to 2019 and Spain’s UD Almería from 2019 until 2025.

As previously reported in the Echo, the billionaire may have his eyes set on Saints.

The 43-year-old is very well known in another international sport that is popular in the UK – boxing.

The media mogul is known for being the mastermind behind Riyadh Season - Saudi Arabia's flagship annual entertainment and cultural festival which has hosted football, boxing and a plethora of other sporting events.

Riyadh Season has hosted the likes of Tyson Fury vs. Francis Ngannou, the Tyson Fury vs. Oleksandr Usyk rematch, WWE Crown Jewel and the Riyadh Season World Masters Snooker Championship.

Alalshikh launched Riyadh Season in 2019 as part of the country’s initiative to diversify the economy and enhance its entertainment offerings.

In January 2025, Alalshikh announced Riyadh Season’s sponsorship of the 2025 Drone Racing World Cup in Saudi Arabia.

TalkSPORT presenter and former Premier League chairman, Simon Jordan, has revealed Alalshikh is looking to buy a club in England.

Speaking on the matter, Jordan said: “He likes Millwall and he likes Southampton, he doesn't want a club in the north.

"I suggested Sheffield Wednesday but he wants a club in the south and Millwall and Southampton are the two that he thinks are interesting.

"It's not me breaching confidence - he's asked me to say that."

This comes after the appointment of Will Still as Saints manager following a disappointing season in the Premier League.
