SAINTS fans have weighed in on the appointment of Will Still as the club's new manager ahead of a return to the Championship.

Belgian-born England coach Still has been described as "one of the most promising young coaches in Europe", while others are unsure given his lack of experience in England.

The 32 year old has signed a three-year deal, and will be expected to mastermind an immediate return to the Premier League.

He was in attendance for Southampton's defeat to Arsenal, standing alongside group technical director Johannes Spors, who now switches attention to sorting the backroom staff.

Rob Lewis responded: "We have one of the most promising young coaches in Europe. Let’s hope he fulfils that potential with us."

Julia JF said: "(It) depends on what happens this summer. SR need to support him in getting exactly what he needs for the job and get rid of those who don't fit in for a decent price.

"We need to be ruthless. There has to be a lot of change, or we'll never get back to being an established top-flight club."

Dan Bullock wrote: "I’m buzzing for the season, and a new, exciting, to begin. The fans have a massive part to play and need to get behind Still as he works his magic.

"We are lucky to be able to attract the calibre of manager like him, so please let’s get behind and support him and the team next season."

David Brown pondered: "Who knows, it depends on the quality of the players and whether they only join Saints to pick up a pay packet for carrying out the square root of nothing."

Shane Hall suggested: "A lot will depend on what happens in the summer. I would have preferred a Steve Cooper for that experience and stability he would bring."

Tony Fletcher said: "He needs to stamp his authority as soon as and sign some decent players who can bring us into at least winning games."

Lynne Garrett beamed: "Very pleased with this appointment! He has the close season to work in, and I hope he’s the person we’ve been looking for."

Roy Smith wrote: "He can't do any worse, give the guy a chance and we will see what he can do."
