FORWARD Ross Stewart wants to re-live the feeling of scoring for Saints "a lot more next season" after ending his wait for a goal.
Stewart scored for the first time in Southampton colours during Sunday's 2-1 defeat to Arsenal on the final day of the Premier League season.
The 28 year old's second-half header was his first goal since January 2023, as injuries have disrupted his two seasons at Saints since joining from Sunderland.
Stewart, who scored 10 in 13 Championship games for the Black Cats, hopes it will be the first of many and is excited by the prospect of regular football in the second tier.
"On a personal note, I'm delighted to get my first Premier League goal. I wish it came in circumstances where I got it us something for the game," Stewart told the Daily Echo.

"It wasn't to be, but on a personal note, it's a very good, lovely feeling. It's been a long time coming, that feeling.
"Now I just need to build on it for next season. I think the last eight, nine weeks have been really good for me in terms of trying to get back from my injury troubles.
"Today (Sunday) was probably the icing on the cake. For me, this is a nice personal note to end off this season.
"I obviously realise it's been a tough season for the club, but next season will look different for us. I can use this to go and build on with the team next season."

He added: "To be honest, I didn't know too much about it. I got there and knew it hit my head, and by the time I turned, I knew it hit the back of the net.
"It's the kind of service I love, glad to get my head on it, glad to get my goal and celebrate in front of these fans because I've not managed to do that yet.
"I thought it was a really good performance today, and (the end result) was a bit unfortunate. But we'll take a lot of confidence, there are always bits to improve on.
"We'll use that to build on next season. I'll use the next break well, make sure I look after myself, and then this pre-season is going to be an important one for me.
"Then hopefully I can hit the ground running next season. I'll try and remember that feeling and feel it a lot more next season."
