TROJANS Hockey Club captain Amy Sheehan has been selected to represent England over-35s, capping off a remarkable individual season and a historic year for the club.
Sheehan will don the national shirt at this summer’s European Championships in Valencia and the Home Nations tournament in Glasgow, following a standout campaign in which she netted 21 of the team’s 43 league goals.
Sheehan, who returned to Southampton's Trojans in 2018 and has captained the Ladies 1st XI for the past four seasons, also finished the season as the top scorer across Division 1 North, Division 1 South, and all four Conference divisions.
Speaking about her international call-up, Sheehan said: “It’s an honour to be selected for England over-35s. I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved as a team this season.
"The squad has worked so hard, and to finish second in the league - the highest the club has placed in years - shows our potential.
"We’ve proved we can compete with anyone in our division, and we’ll be pushing for promotion next season.”
Trojans secured second place in their league with two games to spare, underlining their consistency and strength throughout the campaign.
Coach Richard Markham praised Sheehan’s leadership and impact: "We’re thrilled for Amy. Her selection for the England squad is a testament to her dedication and ability.
"As captain, she’s led from the front - both in attitude and performance. Scoring 21 goals in a season speaks volumes about her influence. The whole club is behind her as she prepares for the Euros and Home Nations.”
