SAINTS legend James Beattie is looking to give back to the city after setting up the James Beattie Academy.
The retired forward remains a figure in the local community through his work with the Saints Foundation and his role at AFC Totton.
And he is now looking to use his coaching experience to give youngsters the chance to develop and have fun.
Interest in the first three-day camp at Places Leisure in Eastleigh was strong, with all 70 slots being taken within two weeks.
"It's just about giving something back to the city which has given me so much," Beattie told the Daily Echo.
"My family are here now, and I consider myself an adopted Sotonian. I have a great affinity with the club, the city and the fans.
"I've spoken to a few people who have done more developed camps, but we wanted to start relatively small.
"I'm excited to see where we can take this in the future. Right now, our camps are open to people of all abilities, and we have two more dates booked in for the summer.
"We want the children to have fun and learn something in a safe environment. That's what football is all about."
