HAMPSHIRE Cricket have appointed Paul Prichard as the interim head coach of the women’s team until the end of the 2025 season.
Prichard, who has been part of the coaching setup at the Utilita Bowl since 2022, steps into the role following several years working with the Southern Vipers and across the men’s and boys’ pathway programmes.
The 58 year old brings a wealth of experience to the post, having enjoyed a distinguished playing career with Essex between 1982 and 2001.
A stalwart of the English domestic game, Prichard made over 300 First-Class appearances, amassing more than 16,000 runs, and featured in 299 List A matches, scoring over 7,000 runs.
Speaking after the announcement, Prichard said: “I feel honoured to accept the role of interim head coach of Hampshire Women.
"Having worked alongside Charlotte Edwards for the past four years and knowing how much the core values, culture, and cricketing ethos she established meant to her, it will be a privilege to continue building on that foundation.
“I’m very much looking forward to working with a talented squad that blends youth and experience, supported by a fantastic backroom team.”
Edwards has been announced as the new head coach of the England Women’s team, with the former England captain previously headed up the women’s set-up at Utilita Bowl since 2020.
Hampshire Women begin their 2025 campaign on Wednesday, April 23, with an away fixture against Warwickshire at Edgbaston, before welcoming Surrey to the Utilita Bowl for their first home match on Sunday, April 27.
