We’ve known for months it was inevitable.

It hasn’t come as a shock nor do I feel disappointed.

I felt all those emotions before Christmas.

Every weekend since had just been another nail in the coffin.

The club is in desperate need for a complete restructure from top to bottom.

There is no connection between the board and the fans.

Between the manager and the players.

And vice versa.

I haven’t felt this way about our club since the dark days of Rupert Lowe putting us into administration and thankfully that ended with a new era of the club which was nothing but positive for years to come.

Until now. We seem to have gone back to square one.

There is nothing positive about our club, nothing to feel inspired by and absolutely nothing to make me want to renew my season ticket next season.

Please do not rush the appointment of a new first team manager.
It could quite possibly be the biggest decision moving forward.

Danny Rohl unfortunately I don’t see being the answer.

We need to think bigger than that and we need to think of the future not just one season.

In my opinion and I know you will all disagree, the man who would do the job would be Gareth Southgate.

I was heartbroken for the man when he left the England job after facing huge backlash from supporters.

He had done so much for the players in terms of confidence, belief and making them want to wear the badge again.

For me, that is exactly what our Southampton players will need.

Remember the time Gareth took over the England national team.

Soon after the so-called ‘Golden Generation’ had hung up their boots and was left with a very young and inexperienced England team.

Look at how far he took them.

He didn’t win anything, but he put England back on the world stage.

We need somebody like that to rebuild our very fragile club, put their arms around our players and inject belief back into our squad.

It will probably never happen.

But if there is anyone out there who is available, surely there would be nobody better than Gareth.
