EASTLEIGH boss Kelvin Davis is pleased to see Jake Vokins and Solomon Nwabuokei back in training following long-term injuries.

Vokins and Nwabuokei have spent long periods of time in the treatment room this season following serious injuries.

Saints academy graduate Vokins, 25, has not played since sustaining an injury against Ebbsfleet in November, while Nwabuokei, 29, has been out since September.

Neither was named on the bench for the Spitfires' 1-1 draw with Halifax Town on Saturday; however, both could return before the end of the National League season.

“It’s nice to see the sun out (because) it means all the injured boys come out to play as well,” Davis quipped when asked for an update on their status.

“Jake and Sol have unfortunately missed a large part of the season, and they have been a big loss for us.

"It’s great that they are back out and striking the ball. They are involved with the group again. It’s added something (in training) for sure.”

Eastleigh have reached an agreement to terminate Liam Webber's contract, freeing the academy graduate to seek opportunities playing abroad.

The defender had been playing on loan at Horndean this season and departs the Silverlake Stadium with Davis' best wishes.

“Liam has been really good for us in terms of adding to the squad. He’s a guy that came through our system here and had been with us since pre-season," the retired goalkeeper explained.

“He was always committed; he turned up and gave his best. We wish him well on a new journey. It’s a bit of an adventure.

"He was open and honest about his footballing prospects here. He wants to go and explore what the world can offer. We wish him the best of luck. We hope that we see him do well.”

Eastleigh, who have not won in six National League games, visit play-off hopefuls Rochdale United on Saturday.

The Dale currently sit seventh in the league, seven points clear of Eastleigh, but they will need to recover from their FA Trophy disappointment on Saturday.

They suffered a penalty defeat to National League North side Spennymoor Town in the semi-finals, denying them a trip to Wembley.

Eastleigh will have more time to recover between fixtures, as James McNulty's side played Sutton United last night.

"We are expecting a tough test against Rochdale. If we can produce a good level of performance, the results will come," Davis said ahead of Saturday's game.

"I'm looking forward to that challenge again. We need to keep going in the right direction and keep the season positive."

A victory at Rochdale would pull Eastleigh within two points of their tally (59) from last season, which was Davis' first campaign in charge, although he joined midway through the season.
