SAINTS could reportedly face competition from Jurgen Klopp's RB Leipzig to appoint Sheffield Wednesday boss Danny Rohl at St Mary's.
Champions League winner Klopp, who departed Liverpool at the end last season, is said to have made Rohl a managerial candidate for RB Leipzig.
The 57 year old is global director of Red Bull's football group, in which the fifth-placed Bundesliga side sit as the jewel in the crown.
Rohl, 35, is a top target for Saints to replace departed boss Ivan Juric, who left his post on Monday after the club's top flight relegation was confirmed.
They wanted to appoint the former Saints, Bayern Munich and German national team assistant in December before hiring Juric on a short-term deal.
However, Sky Germany are reporting that RB Leipzig, under Klopp's stewardship, have made Rohl a potential manager target this summer.

RB Leipzig parted ways with their boss, Marco Rose, after three years at the helm at the end of March with the club underperforming this season.
As well as Wednesday's Rohl, Crystal Palace's Oliver Glasner and former Benfica head coach Roger Schmidt are on RB Leipzig's shortlist.
Glasner is considered a leading candidate but would be significantly more expensive than Rohl, who is likely to leave Hillsborough this season.
Rohl has also been linked with Leicester City, likely to follow Saints to the Championship, as has out of work former Saints boss Russell Martin.
Saints have been linked with the likes of Strasbourg's Liam Rosenior and free agent David Wagner, in addition to Rohl, following Juric's exit.
