RACHEL Rowe insisted Saints Women will "keep fighting" until the end of the season as their struggles in the Women's Championship continue.
A 1-0 defeat at Blackburn Rovers on Saturday saw their winless run extend to 10 games across all competitions.
They had taken a positive step forward with a 0-0 draw against Pompey, Marieanne Spacey-Cale's first point since returning, but suffered their seventh defeat this term at Ewood Park.
“It’s frustrating, I’m not going to lie. We have not been getting the results that we want as a collective, and it’s difficult to keep getting yourself up for it and trying to change it," said Rowe.
“But we are trying to change it. Collectively, we know we need to be better. There were spells in the game when we showed real dominance with our high press.
“That’s when we are at our best. That’s when our attacking play can be fluid. It’s disappointing. We are working on how we control these games.
We just need to build more confidence, which is difficult to do at the end of the season. We are not laying down; we are going to keep fighting.
"We will try to get something out of the rest of the season because that is all we can do. Within the team, we have leaders.
"You have to show up every day and show everything. This season, we have to look back and say, ‘Did we give enough?’
“Sometimes we did, sometimes we didn’t. Right now, we are in the weeds of it, but we need to keep digging to get ourselves out of it."
Asked for her advice to the young squad at Saints, Rowe said: “These things happen, season on season, and with years of experience, seasons like this do happen.
"It’s very difficult, but in the hardest moments, you learn the most about yourself. I said to the girls in the week to have a look at themselves and ask if they are doing enough.
"If you are, you can still walk away being proud of your performance. I look around, and we are giving everything. It’s just not clicking right now, but I’m sure it will.”
