FORMER Saint Victor Wanyama said the chance to repay boss Neil Lennon made his surprise move to Dunfermline a “no-brainer” on his part.
The 33 year old has reunited with his former Celtic manager after signing a short-term deal with the second tier side soon after Lennon took over.
The former Saints and Tottenham midfielder is now facing a relegation battle with second-bottom Dunfermline currently in the play-off position.
Wanyama first signed for Lennon in 2011 when he moved from Belgian side Beerschot and was a key player for Celtic, before moving to Saints.
The Kenya international said: “The manager has played a big part in my career and he asked me to come and help him out. I said: ‘Why not?’

"He has played a big part in my career so I said I would come down and give him a hand. I had some other places to go but once Neil phoned me, then I couldn’t think of anything else.”
"Also, I spoke to the owner. He is very ambitious. When he told me what he wants and what his intentions are for the cub, it was a no-brainer. He is so passionate and wants to take the club to the next level.
"I always love Scotland and Scottish people, you know, nice people, warm people, always welcoming and I couldn't resist."
Wanyama, who made 97 appearances for Saints, penned a deal that lasts until the end of the season, but he did not rule out extending his stay.
“My intention is to help the club stay in the league and then after that we can sit down and discuss again,” said the midfielder.
