FORWARD Molly Pike demanded Saints Women take a winning mentality into the last four games of a disappointing Women's Championship campaign.

Pike was left frustrated after Southampton FC Women failed to secure a first Championship double over South Coast derby rivals Portsmouth on Saturday.

Saints have only won four times in the league this season and the draw with Pompey extended their winless run to nine games in all competitions.

They currently sit eighth in the Championship and are set to achieve their lowest points total since winning promotion to the second tier.

Pike had chances to win the game on Saturday but confessed the lack of clinical finishing caused Saints to fall short against a resurgent Pompey side.

Loanee Georiga Mullett also had a goal ruled out for offside before goalkeeper Fran Stenson made a crucial one-on-one save in the final minutes.

“For us, it’s always frustrating. We want to win games, we want to climb the table. There’s frustration from that," said Pike at St Mary's.

“Our main focus is not to lose games - we’ll take a draw over a loss - but overall we want to win games, especially games like this.

“They came out in the first and second half quite strongly and we dealt with that. The momentum switched to our side.

“We didn’t put our chances away and that’s where we fell short. Fran’s save was unreal and saved a point for us.

“We just have to keep going at it in training. The goals will come, hopefully in the next few games.

“We don’t want to lose or draw any more games. We want to win. That’s what our mentality going into the last four games will be. We want to win and we need to win. We want to end the season on a high.”

Saints visit Blackburn Rovers on Saturday before further fixtures against London City Lionesses, Sheffield United and Charlton Athletic to close out the season.
