CAPTAIN Jemma Purfield insisted Saints Women will not allow frustrations to boil over following a 0-0 draw with Portsmouth on Saturday.
Southampton FC Women's winless run has extended to nine games following their latest draw at St Mary's, however, Purfield felt they deserved all three points.
England youth international forward Georiga Mullett's second-half strike was ruled out for a tight offside, denying Marieanne Spacey-Cale's side all three points.
"I wear a red shirt so for me, it's a goal and we win the game 1-0, but it is what it is," Purfield told the Daily Echo when asked for her view on the would-be winner.
"We can't look back at that now. We're frustrated because at the end of the day, we're professionals and we want to win games.
"For us, not winning is annoying, especially with it being a South Coast derby. We've got a good record in the game and we wanted to get another three points.
"But look, we are where we are. We won't let the frustration boil over. We will go back to the training pitch, work harder than ever, and we go again next week."
She continued: "We've got to look forward and take the positive from the game and go again. Keeping a clean sheet is a big positive.
"We didn't keep a clean sheet last week, so it's an improvement from that. I think the chances that we're creating are also positive.
"We've got to keep creating them to score them. There are loads of positives to take and we will make sure we look at them. We'll improve on all the little bits and go again."
Fran Stenson produced an outstanding one-on-one save to deny Sophie Quirk a winning goal for Portsmouth in the final moments.
The England youth international had also tipped Megan Hornby's long-range strike onto the crossbar during the visitors' quick start to the second half.
"She's fantastic, and you know what, Fran has done that all year," Purfield added in praise of her teammate. "She keeps us in the game in big moments.
"She stays switched on you even if she's not needed for long periods of the game. Day in, day out, that's what she does. It's an absolute credit to her."
