SAINTS defender Taylor Harwood-Bellis appeared to suffer an injury during England under-21s 5-3 defeat to France on Friday evening.
The England captain required treatment after his attempt to stop France's fourth goal, scored by Frankfurt's Hugo Ekitike.
He played on for another three minutes before being replaced by Toulouse's Charlie Cresswell and receiving further treatment on the bench.
Harwood-Bellis has only recently returned from an injury, suffered at Ipswich Town, which kept him sidelined for two Premier League games.
The one-time senior England international had pushed on with a niggle for two months before feeling he was unable to continue playing.
Saints defender Ronnie Edwards, currently on loan at QPR, came on in the second half to make his debut for England at this level.
The former Peterborough centre-back was a late addition to Lee Carsley's squad as they prepare for the under-21 European Championship in Slovakia.
