SKY Sports pundit Lee Hendrie believes there is "no doubt" Sheffield Wednesday's Danny Rohl will be in contention to become new Saints boss.
The 47 year old insists Rohl has "transformed" the Owls over two years and could do even better things at St Mary's with a much bigger budget.
The German has Wednesday sitting 12th in the Championship, having arrived at Hillsborough in October 2023 with the club bottom of the table.
However, Hendrie also tipped former Luton Town manager Rob Edwards as a potential candidate, despite his sacking at Kenilworth Road this year.
"Danny Rohl has done brilliant things at Wednesday and he has seemed to transform that football club," Hendrie told Football League World.

"The problem with managers who are at clubs who probably haven't got the capabilities to throw cash about, you start to think about how successful he's been on nowhere near the budget that some of these clubs have.
"It's no surprise that any manager who seems like they're doing a good job below is linked, even if Southampton are likely going to end up in the Championship next season.
"It should definitely be something which Southampton should try and push for; bigger budgets and better quality players having played in the Premier League this season."
"You speak to players who have worked or currently work with Rohl, and they say he's great to work under," Hendrie added.
"There is no doubt that he will be in the equation for the Saints job but Rob Edwards also has capabilities of promotion and he's a really good guy on all basis."
Edwards guided Luton to promotion to the Premier League via the play-offs after taking over from Nathan Jones in November 2022.
However, his Hatters were relegated from the top flight last season and sat 20th in the Championship at the time he was sacked in January.
