STRIKER Baylee Dipepa netted twice in the first half to help in-form Saints beat Sheffield United 4-1 in the Premier League Cup's round of 16.
The 18 year old opened the scoring for the under-21s at York City's LNER Community Stadium and restored the lead after an Alfie Atherton equaliser.
Starlets Jay Robinson and Romeo Akachukwu completed the rout in the closing stages and secured quarter-final progression for Calum McFarlane's side.
Saints join QPR, Nottingham Forest, Burnley, West Brom, Chelsea, Charlton Athletic and one of Exeter City or Brentford in the next round.
Saints won the Premier League Cup in 2014/15, beating Blackburn Rovers in the final, while Fulham are the current holders of the trophy.
Meanwhile, Saints under-21s are in contention to win Premier League 2, sitting fourth in the table with three matches to go until the play-offs begin.
Southampton's under-18s are second in the Under-18 Premier League, one point off Crystal Palace but with a game in hand on the Eagles.
