EASTLEIGH manager Kelvin Davis wants his players to "enjoy" the end of the season as they stage a late play-off push in the National League.

Captain Jake Taylor converted a stoppage-time penalty to earn Eastleigh a 1-1 draw at home to Gateshead on Tuesday evening.

Tyrell Sellars-Fleming had looked like firing the fourth-placed visitors to a third successive win when he struck with just four minutes remaining.

The Hull loanee flicked home Luke Hannant’s ball into the box but Taylor kept his nerve from the spot to move Eastleigh to within four points of the play-offs.

"Whenever we signed anyone, it’s been part of the initial conversation that I wanted them to enjoy their football," said Davis.

"I want them to enjoy being part of us and to come here at the start of the day excited about what we produce.

"The team are in a good place mentally and physically we will continue to do our work. Our game plan changes each week but buy-in is second to none.

"I want the fans to come and enjoy it too, if we put a run together now we can see how far it goes," continued the boss.

"If you have an Eastleigh shirt and come to our games on you will go home disappointed without us putting points on the tally.

"We’re into March, a bit of spring, and we’re pleased to be in the position we’re in. Let’s see if we can continue our forward movement."
