EASTLEIGH boss Kelvin Davis provided a positive update on the club's injury crisis ahead of Saturday's derby game against Aldershot Town.

The retired goalkeeper will be boosted by the return of Tyrese Shade following his suspension.

Eastleigh were boosted by the return of Scott Quigley last weekend but also lost loan signing Rekil Pyke during their late 2-1 defeat at Forest Green Rovers.

The forward was forced off in the first half before promotion-chasing Forest Green won the game in the final minutes thanks to a late Jamie Robson goal.

Last season's top goalscorer Paul McCallum is also on the mend but remains some way off being available again for the Spitfires.

"It was a nice moment for all of us because we've had our fair share of injuries, which we have covered," Davis told Eastleigh's media team.

"It's nice to get one or two back. Rekil went off with a hamstring injury, which again, it's tough because you ask yourself, what are we doing to support and help the lads to prevent these niggles?

"He played 60 or 70 when he first came in, he played 90 last week and had a good week of training. No sign of any fatigue in his body and 12 minutes in he feels his hamstring.

"So we just feel a little bit like we can't catch a break at the minute. But, as I say, Quigley is coming back, and we've got Tyrese (Shade) for next weekend.

"Macca (Paul McCallum) has started to get a little bit on his feet and a bit of jogging and no football yet, but he'll be on his feet next week.

"So, there's light at the end of the tunnel for the injuries front and if we perform like we did today, week in, week out, you won't get any complaints from me on the performances."

The Spitfires have also confirmed that young defender Liam Webber has rejoined Horndean FC on loan until the end of the season.

The 21 year old has linked back up with the Isthmian South Central club again for a loan that will see Webber spend the remainder of the 2024/25 season with ‘The Deans’

A statement from the club added: "We believe this decision will benefit all three parties involved and hopefully, will see Webber continue to thrive in men’s football."

Webber signed his first professional contract with the Spitfires in the summer having climbed through the club's youth ranks.

Eastleigh currently sit 14th in the Vanarama National League on 38 points, eight clear of Saturday's opponents Aldershot.

The Shots were 2-1 winners against the Spitfires earlier this season, thanks to a second-half winner from Ryan Jones, and are unbeaten since their defeat to Halifax on December 14.
