SAINTS and West Bromwich Albion are expecting to learn the fate of their late Adam Armstrong deadline day deal on Tuesday morning.
The two clubs agreed a loan switch for Armstrong, 27, in the final minutes of the transfer window and attempted to push through the paperwork.
A decision was not made late last night leaving Saints and West Brom awaiting approval into the early hours of Tuesday morning.
Media reports in the Midlands suggest the Baggies are confident everything was submitted in time and that the deal should be complete.
A report in the Express & Star claimed only EFL clearance awaits while Saints were unsure about whether the transfer was done in time.
Right. #wba won't know if loan deal for Adam Armstrong has been completed until the morning. All submitted on time but won't be confirmed until clearance granted by EFL. @ExpressandStar

See you bright and early.
Armstrong is a potentially season-defining signing for West Brom, who sit sixth in the Championship and inside the play-offs by goal difference.
Armstrong scored 24 goals in the Championship last campaign but has only found the net twice on his return to the Premier League.
The former Newcastle United and Blackburn Rovers man struck twice against West Brom in the Championship play-off semi-final at St Mary's.
Saints hoped to reduce the size of their squad and were willing to consider a deal for Armstrong if they received a loan fee and most of his wages covered.
Armstrong was linked with interest from Leeds United and Middlesbrough but it is the Baggies who hope to have sealed his signature.
