SAINTS have confirmed a new agreement that means Shea Charles will remain on loan at Sheffield Wednesday until the end of the season.

The club revealed an "agreement has been reached" to see midfielder Charles add to his 26 appearances for the Championship side, which he joined in August.

The 21-year-old Northern Ireland international has been an ever-present in the Championship for the Owls since joining at the end of August.

The Daily Echo first reported that Charles could return to Sheffield Wednesday even after officially being recalled by Saints last week.

We understand Saints have agreed a better financial package for the former Man City youth captain, who is enjoying his time at Hillsborough.

A Saints statement said: "An agreement has been reached with the Yorkshire club for the midfielder to return on loan until the end of the current season.

"The club wishes Shea well for the rest of the season and looks forward to continuing to monitor his progress."
