SAINTS forward Ben Brereton Díaz will spend the remainder of the 2024/25 season on loan at Championship outfit Sheffield United with an option to buy.
The Chile international made 13 appearances in the first half of the season but rejoins the Blades for a second spell having spent time on loan from Villarreal.
A Saints statement added: "The club wishes Ben well for the remainder of the season and looks forward to monitoring his progress."
Sheffield United's statement said: "Brereton Diaz has made the move to S2 for the second time, again joining on a temporary basis, with an option to make the switch permanent in the summer."
Other outlets have reported that the option to buy is worth £10million, while Saints recognise Brereton Diaz could be useful in the Championship.
On the move, Brereton Diaz said: "I'm absolutely buzzing, it is a club I've been at before and really enjoyed and I know the staff and the players that are still here.
"For me personally, with a young family back in Southampton I didn't want to go somewhere else unfamiliar," he explained.
"Most importantly I know what the gaffer and his staff are about and I've been delighted to see the team doing so well this season, for me it was a no-brainer to come back."
