Without doubt, this is the worst Southampton team I have seen in the 40 years I have been supporting them, and it is all down to the owners, Sport Republic.
They have wasted millions on too many young players, thinking they are building for the future, but the truth is the players they have bought are just not good enough.
They also wasted millions on a centre-forward who was injured when they bought him, and after more than two years, he is still not match fit—yet they still owe money for him.
The owners do not just owe Southampton; they have other clubs they owe, so they clearly are not putting all their efforts into Southampton.
The choice of players is not the only problem to worry about. Their choice of managers has been utter rubbish, and there are no young players coming through, which the club was always good at in the past.
The writing is on the wall: if nothing is done to change things, this lot of players will go down again next season, just like we did a few years ago.
If Sport Republic cannot focus solely on Southampton Football Club, they should sell the club because it is going nowhere under them.
