The Hampshire Cricket Board celebrated their ‘urban’ cricket programmes at the annual community cricket festival, Hawks Fest, earlier this month.
Hampshire Cricket’s urban cricket offering allows children to have access to playing cricket throughout the county, culminating in Hawks Fest each year.
120 young people aged seven to 19 attended from Southampton, Portsmouth and Basingstoke, including the Lords Taverners Wicketz, Chance to Shine Street and MCC Foundation hub programmes.

Alongside four separate levels of competition for both hard-ball and soft-ball experienced players, the event bought together partners of the urban programmes which included the EFL League One trophy and football games bought by Pompey In The Community and a selection of food and drink provided by members of the local Southampton community.
Hawks Fest grows year on year, and it has become a real community event displaying the impact of the urban cricket programmes across the county.
