MANAGER Kelvin Davis was left "really pleased" after Eastleigh staged a stirring fightback to recover from 2-0 down and beat Fylde 4-2 in the National League.

The visitors made a flying start, with Nick Haughton scoring from the spot in the 20th minute and adding his second goal seven minutes later.

But Jake Taylor sparked the turnaround, striking 10 minutes before half-time to give Eastleigh hope.

And they produced an outstanding display after the break, drawing level through Paul McCallum’s penalty before Chris Maguire put them ahead with 20 minutes left.

McCallum added a second goal six minutes later, and not even the late sending off of Ludwig Francillette for a second booking could take the shine off an impressive display.

Speaking to Eastleigh's media team, Davis said: "I'm really pleased. To be in that position at halftime and come back to score four goals - it was a real team performance.

"When you get negativity in the game like we did by conceding a few goals - it's a strong mindset. To turn it around in that manner - I'm really pleased for the lads.

"Halftime was good. There's a feeling of energy in a dressing room - that can be good energy or bad energy.

"There wasn't one ounce of negative energy in there. That's something we are big on, we try to create a belief within the group.

"The two goals (they scored) didn't set us back. You get that first goal back and you start thinking about when the next one is coming.

"That puts them on the back foot. Goals change games. There were a lot of yellow cards in the first half and that's the game these days.

"We will need to have a squad that can manage, over the course of the season, losing players through suspensions and injuries.

"Ludwig will learn from it. It's not ideal but he will miss a game of football and we will be a weaker squad because of it."
