Southampton FC has responded after being criticised by a fan for changing his title on his tickets.

Alexander Culley from Eastleigh said he "strongly objects" to being referred to as Mx instead of Mr on his tickets for the club's upcoming friendlies against Oxford United and Millwall.

He said he "never elected" to use this title in his correspondence with the club and had "clearly selected 'Mr'" on his ticketing account.

Mr Culley labelled this "the thin end of the wedge" and said he "strongly object[s] to this fact of contested ideology being imposed upon me".

Responding to Mr Culley's concerns, a Southampton FC spokesperson said: “We are aware of the issue flagged by Mr Culley.

"We have recently had an update on our system which has caused the error in title for some of our fans and we are trying to rectify it as soon as possible.”
