FORMER Saints midfielder Stuart Armstrong is on trial with Premier League side Brentford following his exit.
Armstrong, 32, opted against signing a new contract at Southampton this summer following the club's promotion from the Championship.
The former Celtic man had been forced to miss the final stretch of the season, including the play-off glory against Leeds, due to injury.
He did however recover in time to represent Scotland at the EUROs in Germany, although his country was eliminated at the group stage.

Now back in England, Armstrong is training with Brentford, who finished 16th in the Premier League last season.
He is slated to feature in their pre-season friendly against League Two AFC Wimbledon this afternoon.
Armstrong is a free agent as is free to join any club. He made 214 appearances for Southampton during his time on the south coast.
