GOALSCORER Chris Maguire feels Eastleigh got pre-season underway in the right way with a 4-2 win over Wimborne Town.
The Scotsman got himself on the scoresheet with a penalty to help the Spitfires kickstart their preparations with a win.
Speaking to the club's media team, he outlined the importance of having a good pre-season.
He said: "It's important to get minutes into the legs. You do all the hard work on the training pitch.
"On the field, you get different types of movement. It's great for everybody to come through and get 45 minutes.
"I feel good. It's always good to get through pre-season. I know that I'm one who benefits from it.
"If I don't have a good pre-season then I know it takes a bit of time to build up into the season. I've come back feeling fit and rearing to go. It's always good to score goals.
"Yes it's a pre-season friendly, but you always want to start in the right manner. We got a win.
"It doesn't give you three points or help you climb the table, but to get the winning feeling in the team is important.
"It helps everybody. There are new boys coming in and young lads. It helps us who were here last year get used to them.
"It helps to try and form partnerships. We have more friendlies coming up, but this was a good start."
