FANS have reacted to the news that Saints have signed Japanese right-back Yukinari Sugawara from Dutch side AZ Alkmaar.
The 24 year old has penned a four-year contract at St Mary's after becoming the fifth new addition to Southampton's squad this summer.
Sugawara arrives on the south coast having spent the last five seasons in the Netherlands, where he made 198 appearances for AZ.
The 13-time Japanese international adds continental experience to Russell Martin's backline ahead of Southampton's Premier League return.
Here is how supporters have reacted to his arrival across social media...
Peter Symonds commented: "At last, a step up in the signing department. He's a class act and will cope with the Premier League well."
Ashley Pragnell suggested: "The defence is certainly being reinforced. Now to get more creative players in midfield, and a striker?."
Mark Waterer proposed a new chant: "Suga, oh Sugawara, you’re our right back, and everybody is wanting you! (Archies- Sugar sugar). Welcome to the club!"
iow boy said: "Can all these defenders score goals as well, I hope so as we need some players who can kick the ball into the net!"
Mr. Profit of Rage wrote: "A very inexpensive, experienced international at a shade under 6 million. Good business. Welcome to Saints, Yuki. Get stuck in!"
St Forlife added: "Still concerned about lack of Prem experience - big step from C'ship to Prem as we see each year with the promoted clubs."
Boutros Boutros Ghali 1 wrote: "Welcome to Southampton Yuki. Hope you have a great career here and help us to flourish in the Premier League."
@EnbrHarris45508 said: "I can't stop watching Sugawara interviews A true character is what we need. Immense signing, not just for the team but for brand exposure."
