SAINTS are reportedly 'leading' the race, alongside Aston Villa, to sign Swindon Town starlet Harley Hunt
The 16 year old has already made three senior appearances for the Robins in League Two, starting games against Grimsby Town and Morecambe at centre-back.
Standing at six-foot-two-inches already, Hunt is also capable of stepping into midfield, a trait which has reportedly caught Southampton's eye.
Mail Sport report that Swindon Town are expected to demand at least £500,000 for the teenager, with add-ons also likely.
Hunt played a key role for Swindon as they reached the FA Youth Cup quarter-final, beating Manchester United 2-0 on the way.
Southampton have already confirmed the signing of Japanese youth international Rento Takaoka, who has signed a pre-contract agreement.
The 17 year old, who scored four goals in four games at the under-17 World Cup, will join in March 2025, when he turns 18.
