GOALSCORER Adam Armstrong says Saints are proud to make history, but insists they still want more.
Southampton's 4-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday saw them equal the club's record unbeaten run since joining the Football League.
Russell Martin's side have gone 19 Championship matches, and 20 games in all competitions, without tasting defeat.
Southampton's run has seen them earn 45 points - only one more than league leaders Leicester City, who sit 10 points above them in the table.
“This is a good place to be at the minute. To go 20 games unbeaten is incredible, no matter what league you are in," said Armstrong.
“It is a special feeling and the boys really appreciate it. The lads were definitely aware of the history we could make.
“It is an incredible achievement, but we are always wanting more. We are going to go and try to beat the record and take every game as it comes.
“The biggest focus is chasing down the two teams in front of us and getting automatic promotion.
“We are definitely on the lines of doing that, but this league is mad - you have just got to keep going.”
Armstrong played a crucial role in helping Saints make history on the weekend.
The 26 year old scored one and set up three goals as Saints thrashed an in-form Wednesday side.
That has taken his tally for the season up to 14 goals and 11 assists - the highest combined total in the division.
When asked if he would prefer to have more goals or assists come the end of the campaign, Armstrong replied: "Goals hopefully.”
He added: “As daft as it sounds, that is what I’m there for. I’m here to get goals and assists for the team."

Saturday's win marked the sixth time that Saints have scored three or more goals during a victory this season.
The south coast side have been electric at St Mary's in recent weeks having scored 22 goals and conceded just once in their last seven home outings.
“The result is excellent," Armstrong continued. "To put four goals past anyone in this league is incredible.
“I thought the boys were incredible today both off the ball and on the ball. We stuck to our game plan and cut them open.
“It has to be up there (with our best performances of the season). The stuff we do day in and day out is to try and show everyone what we can do on the weekend.
“We try to be at our best to break teams down. What a win and what a performance."
Che Adams opened the scoring against Danny Röhl's side with his fourth goal in five games in all competitions.
The Scottish international, who has six months left on his contract, has been linked with a move away this month.
But Armstrong, who is good friends with his strike partner away from the field, has no doubt that Saints would be better off if Adams stayed.
“It would be daft to say he wouldn’t be a help because he has been scoring goals every week.
“He has been a credit to himself as well. No matter if he is in the team or out of the team he has been a true professional. He is still scoring goals for us.”
