Former Saints midfielder Rory Delap has fled Israel after the attack from Hamas at the weekend.
Delap played for Southampton Football Club between 2001 and 2006.
It is reported that Delap hid in a panic room with former Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool striker, Robbie Keane before fleeing to Greece from Israel following the attack from Hamas that saw rockets fired at Israel from the Gaza Strip.
Delap had been working as an assistant manager under Keane at Maccabi Tel Aviv since June.
During his time at Saints the long throw specialist made 152 appearances for Saints – helping the club reach the 2003 FA Cup final which they eventually lost 1-0 to Arsenal at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff.
Delap was Saints’ record signing when then manager Stuart Gray signed the Republic of Ireland international for £4m, a record that stood for over a decade until Jay Rodriguez signed for the club from Burnley for £7m in 2012.
