DOLPHINS manager Tom Killick is looking forward to a reunion with Josh Carmichael and Jake Scrimshaw this evening when Poole visit AFC Totton (7.45pm).
Former Cherry Carmichael made 85 appearances in just over three seasons for Poole Town, moving on at the start of last season to Salisbury.
Carmichael ended the 2022-23 campaign with Totton, helping Jimmy Ball’s Stags lift the Southern Division One South title.
There are further former Dolphins at Snows Stadium, with ex-Cherries loanee Scrimshaw a summer signing, as well as Charlie Davis, another midfielder who spent time with Poole.
Aside from the players he is more familiar with, Killick is wary of the strength Totton possess and believes they will compete near the top end of the Southern Premier South table.
He told the Daily Echo: “I think they’re not a team that's happy to have been promoted and just swill around in our league. I think they're a club that's looking to progress even further and they've got a hugely significant financial backing.
“So they'll be looking to be challenging to get out of this league.
“Not just players that used to play for us, but all round they've got a really strong squad.
“But Josh Carmichael is someone that I've got huge respect for and a lot of affection for, I feel.
“He's a lovely lad and he's a very good player, so if he plays, we're very aware of the qualities that he's got, that's for sure.
“And the same goes with Scrimmy (Jake Scrimshaw).”
The Stags fell to a 2-0 defeat at the weekend, punished by two penalties by Salisbury.
Killick continued: “Totton are one of these clubs that I know they had a disappointing result at the weekend, but when you've been promoted there normally a real confidence about you and a resilience because you've been through what you've been through and ended up being successful.
“So I think when you play teams like that, the difficulty is enhanced.”
