JOSEPH Lee became Southampton ABC’s latest national champion after claiming victory in the England Boxing National Development Championships.
Lee, whose record now stands at 13 wins and one loss, took the 54-57kg Class B title at the Spiceball Leisure Centre in Banbury.
The 16-year-old saw off Joe King, 4-1 on a split decision in the semi-finals, before beating Leeds-based Purge ABC boxer Laivienio Ahmed 3-2 by another split decision in a nail-biting final.
“I’m delighted for young Joseph,” said Southampton ABC’s Gary White.
“He’s boxed four really good kids to win these Championships, coping with different styles but he’s adapted every time to get the wins.
“He’s a very talented boxer from a very good boxing family so it meant the world to him to add this title to a long list of family achievements.”
