JIMMY Ball’s AFC Totton laboured to a 0-0 draw and picked up their seventh point of the season at Bashley on Tuesday evening.
The Stags had travelled to Wales to face Merthyr Town in the FA Trophy third qualifying round at the weekend, and Ball named an unchanged side as that 1-0 win in this midweek fixture.
Ethan Taylor had a low shot well saved in the final minutes of the game to deny Totton three points, after he had earlier nearly supplied Scott Rendell in the area.
The two sides met in a combative contest with three yellow cards, in front of a rowdy home support – but both settled for the point.
The result leaves Totton in 16th with seven points from their opening five matches of the season, while they boast between two and four games in hand on teams above.
