EASTLEIGH stalwart Danny Hollands will continue his playing career, with the midfielder finding a new club in the form of Gosport Borough.
Hollands, who made over a century of appearances for the Spitfires after joining from Crewe Alexandra in 2017, departed the Silverlake Stadium after the expiry of his deal.
By joining seventh-tier Gosport, Hollands will play outside of the top five leagues for the first time in his career.
After a career with clubs such as Charlton, Portsmouth, Bournemouth and Eastleigh, Hollands has made over 550 professional appearances in his 15 years of playing.
Hollands made 216 appearances for Cherries, taking part in the club’s famed great escape and their promotion to the third tier, as well as captaining the side for a brief spell.
There could potentially be a battle between two former Bournemouth teammates next season, with Wes Fogden now at Poole Town. Both sides share a division in the form of the Southern League Premier South.
Gosport boss Shaun Gale enthused about his first signing of the summer, telling the club’s website: “It’s always tough trying to get players signings across the line but we have, in my view, captured a magnificent signing for the club.
“Danny's pedigree speaks for itself and it is so important that we have really good senior players at the club who can lead & inspire some of
the younger players.
“Having started his career at Premier League Chelsea, Danny went on to play for amongst others, AFC Bournemouth, Charlton, Portsmouth and Eastleigh appearing in over 500 games so far.
“Make no mistake this is a great capture.
“Danny is extremely fit and wants to carry on and win things with the Boro.
“He is still ambitious, and the ambitions of our club was one of the things that attracted him to come to Privett Park.
“He is a good character to have around the place and an extremely good player.
“We are delighted to have him with us.”
