SHOLING'S record goalscorer Lee Wort has completed a return to the club.
The striker, who has netted 256 goals in 472 games for the Boatmen, is back with his former side after a two-year absence.
Wort, 31, moved to Wessex Premier Division neighbours AFC Portchester in July 2020, where he scored 40 goals last season.
But he is now back for another spell at Sholing in Southern League Division One South.
Wort spearheaded Sholing to an FA Vase and Wessex Premier double in the 2013-14 campaign before joining Gosport Borough.
After another spell back with Dave Diaper's Boatmen, he moved on to Poole Town in 2016, before trialling with Accrington Stanley and then returning to Sholing in 2017.
Following a spell travelling around the world, Wort rejoined Sholing in October 2019, before his move to Portchester.
Wort will link up Dan Mason again at Sholing, with the pair having previously netted a staggering 114 goals between them in one season.
Mason is 10 goals behind Wort's all-time record, with 246, and Sholing have confirmed he too will again be at the club for 2022-23.
Diaper told the club's website: "Getting D-Dan (Mason) signed was a top priority as he's so important to us. Worty & Dan have an impressive record together and along with our excellent other attacking players, we are focused on improving our number of goals as we push for promotion."
Sholing had previously announced Byron Mason, Ryan Gosney, Rob Nicholls, Rob Flooks, Dan Miller, Stu Green, Owen Roundell, Sami Makhloufi and Charlie Wagstaffe are on the books for next season.
