HARD work has paid off for outstanding Bursledon athlete Serena Vincent.
The Gregg School shot put ace has booked her ticket to the European U18 Youth Championships in Gyor, Hungary next month (July 5-8).
The 16-year-old will be flying out with the Great Britain team a week today following an astounding start to the season which has seen her break the British all-time age-group records both indoors and outdoors.
She currently sits top of the GB U17 rankings with a mighty indoor put of 16.59 metres achieved at Sheffield in February and an outdoor effort of 16.57 conjured up at Bedford earlier this month.
It’s some achievement for the talented City of Portsmouth AC thrower who is juggling her shot put training with studying for ten GCSEs.
