Southampton's Gabi Taylor is in the Surbiton Trophy quarter-finals after a stunning win against GB teammate Heather Watson - and another victory today.
The 20 year-old from Shirley was included in the GB Fed Cup team for the first time in April, alongside the likes of Johanna Konta and Watson, who she beat 3-6, 6-4, 6-3 yesterday.
Having lost in the second qualifying round at the French Open, she has bounced back with her biggest scalp in world number 80 Watson.
“I stayed positive throughout the whole match despite not feeling 100%,” said Taylor.
“I think from the second set I played much better tennis; I was more comfortable and was striking the ball well so I’m really pleased with myself and I’m looking forward to the next round.”
Taylor was in control throughout against Hungary's Fanni Stollar today, beating the world number 165 6-2-6-3.
She will play Switzerland's Conny Perrin in the last eight.
Perrin, the world number 193, has beaten Russia's Evgeniya Rodina and the USA'a Nadja Gilchrist so far this week.
